The brief for this project was to construct a boat store on an island in West Cork. The remote location of the site called for a simple construction method in which the building elements could be easily transported by ferry and assembled without complication on site. When in use, the building envelope opens up to the outside for the movement, maintenance and repair of boats. Provisions have been made to maximise the use of space within the structure by introducing a pulley system for the suspension of boats within the roof.
